Pick Up The Mic marks Alex Hinton's directorial feature debut, and is the culmination of his three years documenting queer hip-hop artists throughout the U.S. Hinton along with Andy Wombwell are screenwriters and most recently worked on “General Hospital: Night Shift.” In 2004, Hinton produced the feature-length Stame The Batch DVD for musical group Gravy Train!!!! His short films The Perfect Shade and I Woke Up! played at numerous festivals in San Francisco, L.A., New York, Chicago, and London.
Pick Up The Mic is the first feature produced by Alan Skinner, a fifteen-year veteran of television production and marketing, who also co-edited the film. Skinner's skills have been seen in hundreds of programs the world over, including Highlander, Tales From the Crypt, and the dark documentary series Curious World. He also served as pageant producer for Fox Television's The Swan.

Andy Wombwell former Director of Development for Rhino Films, where he served as co-producer on What We Do Is Secret, the feature film about seminal L.A. punk band The Germs. He is also screenwriting partners with Alex Hinton, with whom he co-founded and runs the independent record label Retard Disco.
Andy Wombwell / Producer
Bret Berg worked as second camera and associate producer on the film. He co-edited the 2001 documentary Friends Forever. Berg founded the non-profit group Queer Youth TV where Pick Up The Mic started as a 5-minute short. He is now a programmer for Cinefamily in Los Angeles, and plays bass in the group Anavan.
